Living with HIV means visiting your doctor every few months, having blood work done, and taking medication every day. Worrying about affording medication and doctors visits should not keep anyone living with HIV from accessing medical care.
If you have insurance, including Medicaid or Medicare, your care will covered.
If you don’t have insurance and are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare, there are programs out there that help cover treatment costs.
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is designed to help cover health-care related costs for people living with HIV/AIDS. One part of the Ryan White Program is called ADAP – or the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. The Louisiana Drug Assistance Program (L-DAP)covers drug costs for uninsured individuals. The Health Insurance Program (HIP) which helps pay for insurance premiums and drug and medical cost sharing for insured individuals who are financially eligible.
